Marking the 80th anniversary of the 1939 occupation of Czechoslovakia the event showcases the work by refugee filmmakers Jiri Weiss and Karel Lamač who captured the fellow countrymen in short films for the Ministry of Information. With footage ranging from the life of a pilot and a briefing in the operations room to humorous takes on the peculiarities of British life, the films played important role in pro-war propaganda but now provide an important testimony to those willing to sacrifice their lives in the fight for freedom.

Followed by a discussion with Dr Toby Haggith, Roger Darlington. Chaired by Chris Bowlby.

Organised by the Czech Centre London in collaboration with the Imperial War Museum and Czech National Archive
