On Sunday 21 March at 5pm, there will be a screening of the award-winning documentary Mendelssohn, the Nazis and Me, followed by a discussion and Q&A with its writer and director Sheila Hayman (a descendent of the composer), Erik Levi, Academic Director of the International Centre for Suppressed Music at Royal Holloway, University of London and author of Music in the Third Reich (1994), music journalist and novelist Jessica Duchen, and Jeffrey Sposato, Director of the School of Music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and author of The Price of Assimilation: Felix Mendelssohn and the Nineteenth-Century Anti-Semitic Tradition.
