Hans Feibusch, The Adoration of the Shepherds (detail), 1951, St John’s Waterloo

On Sunday 15 November at 3pm, there will be a free illustrated talk entitled ‘Finding Feibusch’ by Emma Rose Barber. A German-Jewish artist condemned as ‘degenerate’ by the Nazis, Feibusch settled in Britain in 1933. He went on to produce more murals for the Church of England than any other artist in its entire history yet remains relatively little-known to a wider public. Click here for further details and to register. The talk forms part of the 2020 B’nai B’rith UK Jewish Heritage Days, which run from 1 September – 31 December. The theme for 2020 is ‘Jewish Journeys’.

This talk acts as a taster for a major one-day conference entitled A Jewish Jesus: Art and Faith in the Shadow of World War Two, to be held at St.John’s Waterloo (which houses two fine Feibusch paintings) on 17 March 2021. Contact comms@stjohnswaterloo.org for further details and to register your interest.
